The Book of Kells

Dublin
The Book of Kells, Irelands most famous manuscript, dates back to 800 AD and contains 680 pages. Located in Trinity College, Dublin, tourists can visit the book yet also go and see the other famous attractions within the university’s grounds.

It is richly ornamented with colorful designs and illuminations decorating the text of the four Gospels of the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. I think the most famous page in the book is The Chi Rho. Chi Rho are the first two letters in the Greek of the word Christ. The page is full of people and images; one example is an otter with a fish.

The Book of Kells attracts over 500,000 tourists each year and no words can explain the magnificent beauty it offers.
