If you fancy hitting a few museums while in Ireland then you’ll be glad to hear that the National Museum of Ireland has some beautiful collections dating as far back as the Bronze Age. See its gold ornaments, clothing, coins, furniture and lots of other stuff.
All the collections are located in four different buildings, with three in Dublin and one in Castlebar, County Mayo. The three museums in Dublin include The National Museum of Ireland Archaeology and History, Decorative Arts and History and finally Natural History. The National Museum Of Ireland Country Life is located in Castlebar. These are all well worth a visit.
The Archaeology and History museum is famous for housing renowned collections like the Tara Brooch and The Ardagh Chalice.
The Natural History museum is located on Merrion Street and it’s the oldest section of the National Museum. It contains a wide range of animals, in face it houses about two million samples in total.
The newest sector of the museum is the Country Life museum which is located in Castlebar. This contains over 50,000 items ranging from Halloween masks to ploughs.
