The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) is located in The Royal Hospital Kilmainham and an excellent example of a 17th century building. The Royal Hospital was founded in 1684 and was then opened in 1991 as the Irish Museum of a Modern Art.
If you’re arriving in Dublin by train you’ll be glad to hear that it is located very close to Heuston Railway Station. A beautiful garden, meadow and medieval burial grounds surround the museum.
The museum is generally acknowledged for its collections and its award winning Education and Community programme. It is Ireland’s primary establishment for gathering modern and contemporary art. The museum’s National Programme holds many exhibitions throughout the year; why not see one for yourself when you’re in Dublin.
