Another one of Dublin’s popular attractions is the Hugh Lane Gallery located in Charlemont House in Dublin city centre.
This famous gallery was founded by Hugh Lane in 1908 and some say it is the first recognised public gallery of modern art in the world! It is famous for is excellent collection of contemporary and modern art with its initial collection provided by Sir Hugh Lane himself.
It has now grown to display about 2000 works of art, which include the works of Morisot, Monet, Renoir and Degas.
The Gallery has become even more popular since it acquired the entire contents from the Studio of Frances Bacon. Which is now a permanent exhibition in the gallery.
The Gallery provides guided tours, workshops for kids and adults, concerts and lecture programmes. It also has a café and a bookshop where you’ll find a variety of books on photography, Irish art, architecture and loads more.
