The gresham was a beautiful comfortable and friendly hotel. THe location was perfect. However the staff did give me wrong information about what i could bring on the plane. I was very angry about that because it was incorrect. Other than that everything was great. I would book on goireland.com again

We completely enjoyed our stay in the Gresham and have recommended it to many of our friends, even one couple who wanted to begin their Irish honeymoon with a night in Dublin. The hotel provided old style glamour and opulence at down to earth prices. The foyer on arrival, with its magnificent chandeliers and marble floors showcases the history of the hotel to it's best. On our first visit my partner kept checking he had his visa just in case I had got the price wrong, as he was sure we couldn't afford a hotel like this. But everything was as stated when booked and we thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

For the deal we got, the rooms were fantastic. We decided to go shopping the following day and there was no hassle with the hotel to mind our bags, which was brilliant.

Mattress was antiquated and very uncomfortable, sagging in the middle. Not what one would expect in a 4 star hotel. O'Connell Street, where the Gresham is located, is about 15 minute walk from the real centre of Dublin - Grafton Street.

The rooms were absolutely tiny. The lighting was awful and nowhere for a girl to do her make up except in the bathroom standing over the sink. There was no full length mirror for when I got dressed the next day. The rooms are not sound proofed so - clearly i was near a lift which went up and down all night long with the words "you are going down" to accompany every occasion. The room overlooked some sort of industry units (maybe air conditioning) which was sooo noisy all night. Nightmare. A bowl of cereal and a cup of coffee to your room the next morning cost €25.50. Scandalous. That night their fryer was broken, so fish and chips along with numerous other things (which should be shallow fried and not deep fried anyway) were off the menu. The following morning, toast took 23minutes to arrive to our table because apparently the toaster was being cleaned. Ridiculous. Definitely not recommended.

We found the bedroom to be spacious and clean. The iced fairy cakes to welcome us a very nice touch.Unfortunately we felt the staff to be rather stand-offish - not as friendly as we had experienced elsewhere. The food in the bar and lounge was very good but unfortunately the main restaurant was closed in the evenings.

I was very disappointed. I had stayed there earlier og was very satisfied then. This time the room was on the first floor and was small, the bathroom even smaller and the window view was right onto a roof. And the elevator was out of order so I had to drag my suitcase up the stairs.

Lack of any info in the room regarding hotel amenities and no info about Ireland or Dublin. No mention of the hotel restaurants or bars, no room service menu, no laundry or dry cleaning list. No net on window, overlooked by carpark.

I thought that the staff should have been more prepared for a Bank Holiday Weekend and the rooms were very basic - no menus, hotel directory or water.

First off parts of the Gresham were in the middle of a much-needed major renovation which affected our opinion. Our room had a brand new air conditioning unit but it didn't work yet because of the in progress renovations. I thought the Gresham reputation was highly overrated compared to our experience. We were expecting that this would be one of the finest hotels in Ireland, and expected that it would compare well to something like the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. This wasn't the case at all. In was nice but not great and certainly not my version of a 4 star hotel. I thought the hotel experience was just okay but not a good value for the money. I thought our Clarion hotel choice in Cork was much nicer than the Gresham.
