Overview
The Parliament Hotel is an old Edwardian building located right in the centre of Dublin, just off the busy and bustling Temple Bar area in the old section of the city. Opposite Dublin Castle and just south of the River Liffey, the first thing you'll notice is the really old world façade, it’s an elegant building that’s not short of character.
The inside is pretty much modernised, though there's no shortage of antique furniture and the walls are characterised by various prints of the Irish presidents over the years. There are some 63 rooms within the hotel, all of which are en-suite and of a pretty good standard – in our opinion the hotel certainly deserves its 3 star status. Fairly spacious, clean and comfortable, the rooms are characterised by light wooden furniture and cream coloured walls.
As it's located in the Dublin 2 area, it's slap bang in the middle of town with easy access to all the main sites of the city, and you can easily take advantage of the public transport network to get to those spots out in the suburbs. There’s a good bar in the hotel called the Forum Lounge, which draws a fair crowd of Dubliners and tourists, and the atmosphere can get quite lively here.
There’s also a really nice restaurant called the Senate Rooms where you’ll get a good choice of international dishes and a very tasty breakfast in the morning. Overall the hotel is very well run, clean, comfortable and excellently placed, and when you add to this genuinely friendly and helpful staff, it’s a pretty good choice all round.
