Location
Lynam's Hotel has a prime location on Dublin's O'Connell Street – the main street in the city. This superb location means you'll have immediate access to top attractions, bars, restaurants and shopping streets.
O'Connell Street is a great place to base yourself in Dublin and an excellent starting point for you exploration of the city. The street is called after Daniel O'Connell – a famous nationalist leader in the early 19th century. To see a statue of him exit the hotel and take a right to the end of the street and you'll see the large statue towering over the street. This street has been the scene for some major incidents in Irish history like the 1916 Easter Rising and the 1922 Irish Civil War.
While walking along O'Connell Street you can't help but notice 'The Spire' – it's the tallest sculpture in the world! It's also worth popping your head into the G.P.O (General Post Office), which was the headquarters for the leaders of the Easter Rising. If you look closely enough at the pillars at the front of the building you'll see bullet marks from that time.
You should have no problem finding this hotel as it's located at 63-64 on O'Connell Street. If you are arriving at Dublin Airport you can hop on the blue Aircoach which leaves outside the Arrivals Hall every 15 minutes. It costs about EUR7.00 one-way and EUR12.00 return and it'll drop you off on O'Connell Street just steps from the hotel. If you prefer the comfort of a taxi, join the queue outside the Arrivals Hall but you could pay anything upto EUR40.00 depending on traffic.
If you are arriving in Dublin by train to Connolly Station you can walk to the hotel. Just look for Talbot Street when you exit the station. Follow the Spire to O'Connell Street and when you reach it, take a right. The hotel is located across the street on the left. If you arrive in Heuston Railway Station you can take the Red LUAS line from outside the station to the city centre. Get off at 'Abbey Street' stop. This street is just off O'Connell Street. Just head back onto O'Connell Street and take a right, walk past the Spire and you'll see the hotel on your left hand side.
