this hotel misrepresents itself to international travellers as an Irish inn with music. Its reality is an old, filthy, unserviced hotel staffed by every nationality except Irish, with a raucous cabaret that goes on until dawn in the basement. The front desk staff vary in helpfulness - Joe is very civil, and tried to help us find what we wanted within walking distance. However, at our checking-in about 2:45 pm on July 17th, a young Eastern European woman was particularly officious, rude, and unhelpful. When we reserved our time in Dublin, the internet site advertised this hotel as a bed and breakfast. Breakfast turned out to not be included in our case - we had to pay separately. Our room was very old and unclean - there was an old smear of blood on the uncovered boxspring on one side of the bed. Though it was designated a non-smoking room, the carpets and drapes smelled strongly of smoke and, especially, dirt - it seemed like they had not been appropriately cleaned when the hotel decided to set aside non-smoking rooms. Once in our room, we discovered one of our suitcases, badly bashed around by Ryan Air, had suffered a squashed shampoo bottle that leaked most of its contents through the case. I phoned the desk about 5:20 pm to inquire about laundry, and was told hotel laundry was done for the day, but if we got our things to the desk before noon the next day, we'd have them back by 6 pm. The next day just before 10 am, my husband went to the desk with a bag of things to clean, and was told that laundry had to be given over before 9 am in order to have it returned before the next day - the next day for us was our departure. The launderette to which we were sent was closed, so that left us with a bag of shampoo filled personal effects until we got back to Canada. This hotel is the absolute worst - especially as it sits in mid-range cost and is represented as a quality destination - that we have ever stayed at. Mostly unhelpful and in some cases very rude staff, a filthy room, and no easily used services made for a disappointing and exhausting stay. We hope your agency removes this property from its recommended list. We will return to beautiful Ireland, but probably not to Dublin.
