Location
For a top-notch location in the Fair City, Dublin 2 really can’t be beaten. Just south of the River Liffey that slices through the centre of the city, Buswells Hotel is located in a quaint little Georgian street just a few steps from Trinity college - this is where the famous Book of Kells can be found. This area manages to combine elegance and practicality in abundance - the centre of town and the popular Grafton Street shopping district are only a few minutes away, as is the famous St Stephen’s Green.
The area is also well known for its wealth of excellent restaurants and bars where you’ll find anything from traditional Irish pubs to cool and sophisticated wine bars and International restaurants. Real revellers will be delighted to hear that Temple Bar is only a short walk up towards the river (River Liffey) where many a wild night can be had.
Public Transport Links:
Train –
Dublin does have a rail network known as the DART, or Dublin Area Rapid Transit to give its full name. It’s very handy for travelling to and from Dun Laoghaire Port, where various ferry services arrive and depart to bring travellers between the British Isles and Ireland. The DART also travels up and down the coastal suburbs of the city, making it an ideal service for checking out picturesque Dublin spots such as Dalkey, Howth and Sandycove. The nearest station to Buswells Hotel is Pearse Street, about a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
Just walk to the end of Molesworth Street where the hotel is, and turn left along Kildare Street. From here take a left along Lincoln Place, which will bring you round to Cumberland Street. You’ll find the station at the end of the street.
Bus –
St Stephen’s Green, Dublin's popular leafy haven is just a few minutes walk away. Here you can pick up numerous bus routes that will take you in and around the city.
It’s also worth noting that the excellent Dublin Aircoach runs to and from Grafton Street - just a few minutes walk from the hotel.
LUAS Tram –
LUAS is the handy tram service ideal for getting you in and around Dublin. From St Stephen’s Green, just a few minutes from the hotel, you can pick up the Green Line, while Abbey Street Stop just North of the River Liffey, a mere 10 minutes walk away, is the place to get the Red Line.
How To Get From The Nearest Airport:
There’s a few ways to get from Dublin Airport which is around 11 km away, but undoubtedly the most convenient in terms of price is the Dublin Aircoach. When you arrive at the airport just stroll outside the arrivals hall where you’ll see the blue Aircoaches departing. The fare is around EUR.7.00 one way and roughly EUR.12.00 return, and it'll take you right down to Grafton Street which is just a few minutes walk from the hotel.
Of course if you don’t fancy taking public transport then you can grab a taxi from the airport, where we reckon you’ll pay around EUR.30.00 to EUR40.00 for the privilege.
How To Get To Dublin's Top Attractions:
You’re very well positioned with Buswells Hotel to get to Dublin’s main attractions - many of the city’s top spots are within walking distance whilst the excellent nearby public transport links will see you get to the rest in quick time.
You’re also right in the middle of the old Georgian section of Dublin where you’ll find the National Museum and the National Library along Kildare Street at the end of Molesworth Street. You’ll find the Natural History Museum, the National Gallery and the Oscar Wilde Memorial on Merrion Square.
Grafton Street, Dublin’s shoppers paradise is only minutes away on foot, as is the charming leafy walkways, ponds and grassy knolls of
St.Stephen’s Green. You’ll also find one of Europe’s most prestigious universities,
Trinity College just across the way from the hotel where the old
Book of Kells can be found.
While you’re here you’d do well to check out the Molly Malone Statue, the mythical young girl who sold fish in the well-known Dublin song. If you continue from Trinity College onto the wide thoroughfare of O’Connell Street you’ll come to the famous Spire - just walk along Westmoreland Street from College Green, cross the Liffey via O’Connell Bridge onto O’Connell Street and you can’t miss it. Another well-known shoppers haven is Henry Street (just off O'Connell Street), whilst the ornate old building that still serves as the General Post Office is also on O'Connell Street. And of course numerous city and bus tours depart from here as well.
One of the reasons many people come to the Fair City may well be to sample the nightlife.
Temple Bar, the hub of Dublin’s social scene, is just a short stroll from the hotel. Wander up Dawson Street from Molesworth Street where the hotel is and take a left along Nassau Street. Walk up here through Suffolk Street, take a left and continue onto Dame Street. When you get to the Central Bank, any one of the streets behind you is part of the Temple Bar area.
If you’re here for a match at Lansdowne Road Stadium you can walk if you fancy a healthy stroll, just head for St. Stephen’s Green North, walk through Merrion Row and continue down Baggot Street to Pembroke Road which turns into Lansdowne Road. If you don’t fancy that you can always get the DART from Pearse Street.
